What is Tail Blazers?
🐾 Walk for shelter animals – make every step count!
Tail Blazers is a South African dog-walking fundraiser where you & your pup raise money for animal shelters, one kilometre at a time!
How it works (for the public):
1. Register to become a Tail Blazer (it’s free!).
2. Choose a participating shelter you’d like to walk for or write down the one closest to your heart that you would like to support on the form.
3. Track your walks – you decide how far & how often.
4. Donate R5 or R10 or any amount you choose per kilometre walked OR ask friends/family/work colleagues to sponsor you.
5. Send your proof of payment – we’ll update your progress & cheer you on!

We want to help animal shelters raise funds with zero admin. Here’s how it works for your team:
- We add you to our Tail Blazers page with your info & contact links.
- Walkers choose to support your shelter.
- Donations get calculated & sent directly to your account
- We track walker progress & promote your shelter on social media.

10% of all funds raised are retained by Pawsome Prints to cover essential admin, printing & promotional costs that keep Tail Blazers running smoothly.
All participating shelters have agreed to this upfront so that the movement remains sustainable & continues making a difference for South African rescue animals. 🐾
Where does the 10% go?
To keep Tail Blazers running smoothly & reaching more animal lovers, 10% of funds raised are used to cover essential running costs. These include admin time, website hosting & domain fees, social media content creation & management, advertising & promotions, digital tools, design work (such as planners, QR codes & campaign graphics) & ongoing coordination. This helps us support shelters more effectively & grow the movement sustainably.
What if my shelter isn’t listed?
No problem at all! If your chosen shelter isn’t part of the Tail Blazers network yet — & they’re not ready to come onboard — any funds you raise will still be allocated to them. We believe in supporting the shelters that matter to you & we’ll make sure your effort reaches the right place.
Who We Walk For:
Helping animals & working with local communities
Dogs Trust scouts go into the township daily to find animals that are abused, neglected, injured or kept in substandard environments. Our aim is to remove and rehome severe cases and to better the living quarters of others by setting up running chains, improving sleeping and living conditions, providing warm beds for winter, shelter for summer as well as food, water, collars and kennels. We often have to remove animals due to severe neglect or abuse. Their medical treatment is paid for by Dogs Trust and our kind donors and we manage to successfully rescue and rehome about one animal per week.
SerendiPitty Rescue is a compassionate, dedicated animal welfare organization committed to rescuing, rehabilitating & rehoming dogs in need—especially those often overlooked due to their breed, age, or special care requirements. With a soft spot for misunderstood breeds like Pitbulls, they work tirelessly to break negative stereotypes & show the world just how loving & loyal these dogs truly are.
Their mission extends beyond rescue efforts; they also focus on educating the public about responsible pet ownership, the importance of sterilization & creating awareness around breed-specific legislation. Each dog in their care receives medical attention, behavioural support & most importantly, unconditional love until they find their perfect forever home.
At Serendipitty Rescue, every wagging tail is a success story & every adoption is a celebration of second chances. Their work is a beautiful reminder that, no matter the past, every dog deserves a future filled with hope, happiness & a family to call their own.
Silver Paws is a kennel-free dog sanctuary for senior dogs in Waterfall, KZN
So many senior dogs lose their homes through owners passing away or having to move into old age homes where pets are not allowed or in the case of South Africa, emigrating to other countries.
Silver Paws was started in 2018 to provide a retirement sanctuary for these dogs and registered as a non-profit company in 2021.
There are no kennels at Silver Paws. All the dogs live freely in a home environment. They sleep in comfy beds or in the humans’ beds every night and have free reign of the property during the day.
Our dogs get home cooked food and lots of soft food for the ones with no teeth left. Their veterinary needs are taken care of. They are loved and cherished until the very end, and are supervised 24 hours per day.
FurGetMeNot Manor – A Forever Home for the Forgotten
FurGetMeNot Manor is a sanctuary for animals of all kinds — big, small, furry, feathered, or hooved. We provide complete care & a forever home for abused, special needs or abandoned animals, big & small. Here, every animal is seen, cherished & given the chance to live out their days with dignity, love & care.
Whether it's a senior dog, a rescued bunny, or a retired farm animal, they all find love & lifelong security at the Manor. By walking for FurGetMeNot Manor, you're helping to give forgotten animals the peaceful future they deserve.
